Last weekend, a gutsy team of staff, foster carers and young people from Blue Sky Fostering took part in the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge to raise money for Kids Matter.
Whether you’re an experienced trekker or new to walking challenges, the event includes 16 route options, with marquee rest stops and lots of food and drink along the path. It’s a great way to experience a stunning World Heritage coastline with friends, family or colleagues… and support your favourite charity, too!
Chrissie Bolger, Customer Service Manager and Project Coordinator at Blue Sky Fostering, said:
Why are we doing it? We are doing it for Kids Matter, a children’s charity that predominantly looks after young families in poverty, supporting them professionally to help keep the family unit living happily and healthily together.
These families have got stresses and strains caused by poverty that many of us don’t even realise are out there. But Kids Matter work to change that.
So for me, I’m trying to help towards stopping the children coming into care because of families breaking down under poverty stress. For me, that’s really, really worthwhile, and worthwhile raising money for.
Senior Administrator Sophie Amy, said about participating in the Ultra Challenge:
For me this is a chance to support a great charity, doing great things and keeping families together whilst connecting with our foster carers and young people at Blue Sky Fostering.
Thank you to all those who donated! Not only did the Blue Sky Fostering team reach their target goal of 2K but they bettered it – helping us to reach even more children in need!
