Why is it important to have a crèche as part of a Kids Matter programme?

It’s important because the parent group is for the parents, and the whole point is that the mums can come together and have that space away from their children. It gives the mums a break and it’s good for the children. It’s good for them to make friends, for social and emotional development, and they get to have fun at the same time.

What is it about the Kids Matter programme that you like most?

The community aspect of it. Parents don’t just come to a group and learn new things; they’re actually making friends and these friendships are lasting outside of the group. It’s really good because being a mum can be quite isolating and demanding, with little room for a social life or to make new friends.

Kids Matter is a perfect place for that to happen.
