Vision event celebrates impact and inspires change
Last week we celebrated our vision to see every child in need raised in a strong family at a small event hosted by our longest running partner, St Luke’s Millwall in London.
Nestled between the glimmering skyline of Canary Wharf and the high-rises of Tower Hamlets, an area with the UK’s highest concentration of child poverty, St Luke’s church provided a poignant setting for an evening of networking, reflection and celebration. Bringing together parents who have participated in Kids Matter’s parenting programmes, partners and team members, eager conversation created a lively buzz in between presentations and tasty food.

Parents shared moving testimonies about how Kids Matter has a made difference at home and in the lives of their children. Nicky, a local mum living in Tower Hamlets, spoke candidly about her journey, saying:
“It was nice to refresh things and find new ideas and meet other parents that had children of the same sort of age group. I was in an abusive relationship, but I made good friends and got out of it. And then as I got more confident, I started to work with Amirah and help with the programmes.”
Nicky’s story exemplifies the profound and lasting impact of community-led parenting programmes that empower families and transform lives not just now but in the long-term.
Since its inception in 2017, Kids Matter has reached over 4,000 children through fantastic partnerships with local churches across the country and key charities dedicated to coming alongside families facing disadvantages. These partnerships work to empower communities and ensure every child has a strong foundation for life.
The event was not only an inspiring celebration of the lasting change made possible by collaborative efforts but a challenge to strive tirelessly for even greater impact and a better future for children in the UK.
